About this experience
Delta Green Night Visions
“There is nothing better than getting shot at and missed. It’s really great.”
- Gen. James Mattis, former U.S. Secretary of Defense
It is October 2011, the country is Afghanistan, and you are American soldiers kicking knee-deep in the shit of war: First Squad of the First Rifle Platoon (“Doom School”) of Company C (“Charlie”) of the 2nd Battalion of the 35th Infantry Regiment (“Cacti”) of the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (“Broncos”) of the 25th Infantry Division (“Tropic Lightning”). Stationed in northern Kunar province at Combat Operations (“COP”) Honaker Miracle, the Cacti are six months into a year-long assignment at a remote outpost in one of the roughest border zones in the 10-year-old Afghanistan war.
Like most war-zone soldiers, you are tossed back and forth between endless boredom and instants of ghastly excitement. But you’re bound for terror of a distinctly different sort when you are dispatched to make contact with a little-known group of Afghan hill people in an attempt to bring them in to a local coalition to assist U.S. forces against the Taliban.
Born of the U.S. government’s 1928 raid on the degenerate coastal town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts, the covert agency known as Delta Green opposes the forces of darkness with honor but without glory. Delta Green agents fight to save humanity from unnatural horrors – often at a shattering personal cost.
Delta Green began as a sourcebook of modern conspiracy horror for the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. In 2016 Delta Green was released as a stand-alone RPG which, like CoC, is based on a percentile dice system.
Pre-generated characters will be provided for this session, so it is the perfect time to jump in if you are curious about the world of Delta Green.
House GM James Backstory
I was hooked on RPGs the very first time I sat down with my friend Connor and rolled up an Elf using TSR’s Basic D&D, aka the Red Box. Since that time, I have played in and/or run games of four of the five editions of the world’s most popular role-playing game, Shadowrun (1st-4th eds.), Cyberpunk 220.127.116.11, Legend of the Five Rings (1st ed.), Seventh Sea (1st ed.), Call of Cthulhu, and several oWoD White Wolf games, among others.
As for my GM’ing style, I like to center the characters in the story and let everything emanate from there with the players driving the tone of the table itself. I enjoy running games that run the gamut from light-hearted romps to dark suspense to everything in between and as an avocational folk lorist and historian, I enjoy bringing obscure folk lore or an embarrassing amount of research to the gaming table.
